We see nude in TV from Germany and Scandinavian countries. Obviously, they are not sexualizing children but they can’t have been oblivious to the implications of depicting naked children on TV. I am sure it’s to do with the relaxed attitude about nudity in general, but it’s hard to believe nobody questioned it. They would not do it today – I wonder why it was ok then? Especially in a show FOR children?

I agree – the Western idea that all nudity is sexualized is crazy and unhealthy.
The European understanding of the human body is much more civilized and leads to better attitudes.
I grew up overseas, was shocked to return stateside and discover the culture had changed- the horror of sex with children, and the lewd relationship between nudity and sex, was all over the media. All of our innocence was gone, wiped away, poof, especially for the children.
Everyone was/is suspicious, and suspect too.
Plus, huge billboards in NYC, paid for by law firms, read “Molested? Call us!”
Decades later, I’m still trying to adjust to the insanity of it all.

This was a more modern-day version of a series in the United States called Our Gang, which was popular in the early 1900s. It also featured a group of mischievous kids. One thing that it DIDN’T ’t have was any scenes with nudity. In this episode we have a wonderful segment where a number of nude boys are swimming while the girls of the group are around. This was absolutely wonderful, and for a family-friendly show to have that is an absolutely healthy attitude. This is the kind of thing that I am most interested in.
