Storyline:
It’s the summer of 1951 in Oslo. Lillian and Amund Wang are blessed with their first and only child. A boy. Or is it a girl? Outside there’s a solar eclipse, and all the birds stops singing. Young Adrian isn’t getting the operation which might give him the life he deserves in a conservative environment, and the apartment where he grows up becomes a greenhouse for the darkest flowers. Adrian grows up on lies, dying love and shamelessness. At 15 he overhears a conversation between the parents, which makes him attack his parents, and make him dangerous for his surroundings. Adrian takes his shame and guilt, and takes his punishment as a responsibility put upon him.
A little boy, named Prdelka, traveled with his father from Prague to the country during the Second World War. There, the boy became friends with a local fisherman and learned to catch the golden eels. Eventually, his father and mother were arrested by the Nazis and the boy stayed with the fisherman.

Storyline:
In the beginning of the 19th century, Johannes Elias Alder is born in a small village in the Austrian mountains. While growing up he is considered strange by the other villagers and discovers his love of music, especially rebuilding and playing the organ at the village church. After experiencing an “acoustic wonder”, his eye color changes and he can hear even the most subtle sounds. Elias falls in platonic love with Elsbeth, the sister of Peter, a neighbor’s son, who has longstanding homosexual feelings towards Elias. After Elsbeth, out of frustration from Elias’ not returning her love and instead being obsessed with music, chooses to be impregnated and marries someone else who lose love she had spurned for Elias. The village burns and most villagers, including Elsbeth, evacuate to the closest town. Elias remains behind. Having heard of “the prodigy in the alps”, a music master seeks out Elias and invites him to an organ challenge in the town where the villagers relocated. Elias performs there and amazes the audience which includes Elsbeth. She is unable to meet with Elias before he is rushed to a waiting carriage. She calls to him and he hears her, but it is too late. Elias is taken on a brief tour by his mentors but soon returns to his spiritual site near the burnt village where he takes his own life (with Peter by his side), having decided to not sleep anymore. Elsbeth later returns there, a widow with a young daughter, hoping to find Elias but instead discovers his spiritual site has disappeared.

Storyline:
A young Australian girl living in a small rural mining town prefers the company of her two imaginary friends, Pobby and Dingan, to real children. She ends up looking awkward during social gatherings and her only tangible friend is her older brother, Ashmol, who finds Pobby and Dingan annoying and often makes fun of them because he’s embarrassed by his sister’s behavior. Kelly-Anne’s and Ashmol’s father is an opal miner trying to earn a living, and their mother is busy trying to fit in as a member of the community. Both parents agree that it’s time for Kelly-Ann to move on and leave her fantasy world behind – but when they force her to grow up too fast with a hasty decision, Pobby and Dingan are killed and Kelly-Ann falls into a grief-stricken illness. The only one who can set things right is Ashmol.
