I went to MONSTER SUMMER expecting nothing but left the theatre totally satisfied. Mel Gibson does not phone this in considering the impression his billing suggests. He delivers a nuanced performance that makes the most fantastic elements of the plot totally believable. Lorraine Bracco, Kevin James and the rest of the cast and crew all deliver. Unfortunately the distribution pattern of this movie appears to be what in the 70’s would have been a planned tax write off. It’s a shame the movie has thrills and heart and I’m afraid it will be streaming next week.mel Gibson and MONSTER SUMMER DESERVES.

Just watched the movie and this isn’t good movie. Ten times worse vs. like Summer of 84. Crappy theme. Not scary. Only good actor was Mel Gibson. Every kid actor was crappy. And yes, also noticed, Mason was also … something was wrong. He was much better in Black Phone.
