The siblings Joseph and Chloé are 12 and have just been placed on another children’s home. For years they were on the same or separate homes or on the run together. Chloé is an autist. She does not talk, feels panic when touched, and eats only when told so. Joseph dearly loves her and firmly thinks she needs him. The child psychiatrist agrees that he has a very positive influence. Joseph dreams that Chloé will recover if they find their parents. The psychiatrist finds the mother. But she is also an autist. When the children were one year old she left them on the street just from an impulse. This is the first crack of Joseph’s dream. The children escape from this home. When they are caught next time Chloé is send to a mental hospital. The same thing is about to happen to Joseph after a suicidal attempt in the police arrest. Young Goob, 16 years old, returns home to his mother where he grew up in the countryside, between a small restaurant and a field of pumpkins. His mother’s new companion and Goob don’t get along. This summer Goob will mature in many ways, dealing with a girl in the stock-car circuit, a gay cousin who dances, and problems with a seasonal woman fieldworker.
The story takes place in a small village on the beach of Sea of Azov at the beginning of 1960-s. Adolescents passionately dream of love about which they have heard from their elder experienced friends. A 16 year-old Ignat is the first to find out what the real feeling is. Xavi goes down to his family holiday home in Spain where he meets his best friends. As a gang they enter a race to win the magic tree house where Xavi can wish for his Dad to come back after his parents split and his mum re-marries. During the holiday Xavi learns about love for girls and learns how to accept his step dad after lying to his friends. And as a gang they build a cart that will hopefully win the race.
