Storyline:
Set in contemporary Naples, Dark Love focuses on the consequences of the brutal rape of a young woman by three teenage boys. Ciro is the only boy who shows remorse (he confesses his role, leading to recriminations from his fellow assailants), and part of the film is devoted to his experiences in an offshore juvenile prison. Simultaneously, the film follows the faltering efforts of the victim, Irene, to put her life back together, continue studying for university, and behave with some semblance of normality with her boyfriend and family. However, Ciro starts writing letters from prison to Irene, who eventually begins to read them. The two stories have a marked difference in tone. Ciro’s experiences are unsurprisingly gritty and occasionally violent, while Irene, in a much more meditative depiction, is shown going about everyday life while still disturbed and alienated by what she has been through. The interweaving of the two stories is skillfully handled, the use of Naples as a setting is evocative, and the performances from the young protagonists are little short of astonishing. Director Antonio Capuano has created an understated, challenging and meditative film which avoids either cheap moralising or simplistic resolution.

Storyline:
The story takes place in the summer of 1996 in Southern Turkey. We follow the story of a group of teenagers who are getting acquainted with love and life accompanied by sun, wind, rocky cliffs, endless waves and hearts that will eventually taste sadness. Deniz visits his parent’s summer house every year, but this year is different, he has turned 16 and he is feeling new sensations and wants to experience more in terms of love. He believes himself to be mature enough to have his first sexual experience with his childhood crush Asli. As Deniz tries to get closer to Asli, he sees that hot shot of the summer from the same neighbourhood, Burak, the sporty and extremely handsome young man is all into Asli. As we see love blossom amongst each character, the viewer will also experience the first heartbreak and teenage awakening.

He has to fight off his two cousins to protect the young man who lies still, unaware of their lust. Thanks to his saviour’s loving care, he recovers quite quickly. A quick letter home and his brother – equally blond – arrives. A sturdy camel merchant with ebony skin exchanges his wares for the roundest part of the brother’s body. When he arrives at the oasis, he finds himself alone with the two cousins. He cunningly swaps his clothes for theirs by showing them his adorable pink bottom, ending up pinned down like a butterfly. But it’s time to go home. To thank the man who saved him, the brothers take him home with them to a warm welcome; all their friends are there in honour of the survivor! All the couples are reunited, except the young shepherd. His prot’g? is shagging in the cellar. Sadly, he leaves the house where his dreams fall apart.
