With her husband perpetually away at work, a mother raises her children virtually alone. Milly, Michael and Harold Stevenson are in Budapest with their father, a British inspector who is attending an international convention of criminal investigators. Two thieves use the conference as an opportunity to steal the golden bust of Saint László from the Cathedral of Gyór and attempt to smuggle it out of the country. The Stevenson children trail the thieves through Budapest and the surrounding area, providing a widescreen travelogue of the culture and landmarks of Hungary.

James has a heaviness weighing on him and takes to the Monty’s awkwardly insightful presence as a much needed distraction. But, SUGAR PINE is a dark place where everyone has something to hide and happiness is fleeting. A body lays limp beneath a waterfall and as the film unravels the awful truth will be revealed.
A young orphan, Stephen, is sent to go and live with his strange, much older cousin at his remote country house. Once there, Stephen experiences terrible dreams in which he sees a young girl and boy who are missing their hearts.

Vicente, seventeen, lives with brother Nino, ten-years-old, and his ailing father in a derelict house on the outskirts of the capital. They don’t seem to remember their mother, and are very much attached to their father, despite his temper, and his frequent absences from home. One day, the father leaves for good, and Vicente and Nino swear to cover it up. It’s their secret. Clara, the primary school assistant, is fascinatingly beautiful, and secretive, and (may be) she knows it aswel. There are other secrets, though: the origin of the money that appears at Vicente’s house; the relationship between Vicente’s well-to-do uncle and his girlfriend; the relationship between the four people who once played the cards together, and now can’t stand each other.
