Plot:

The three best friends Yusuf (Emircan Çal), Ali (Arda Şahin) and Ahmet live together in a small Anatolian village and spend every free minute together. However, when the three boys one day want to refresh themselves on a river near the village, Ahmet drowns tragically. At the funeral, Yusuf and Ali observe the imam of the village praying and are convinced that he is talking directly to their deceased friend. Henceforth, they do everything they can to become Imams in order to contact Ahmet and to ask him what he experiences in heaven. In doing so, they thoroughly disturb the tranquil village life and the grieving village community. Storyline:

At a track near Rome, shoeshine boys are watching horses run. Two of the boys, the orphan Pasquale and his younger friend Giuseppe, are riding. The pair have been saving to buy a horse of their own to ride. The boys meet Attilio, Giuse’s much older brother, and his shady friend at a boat on the Tiber. In return for a commission, the boys agree to deliver black market goods to a fortune-teller. Once the woman has paid, Attilio’s gang suddenly arrives, pretending to be cops, to shake the woman down. With a payoff from Attilio, the boys are able to make the final payment and stable their horse in Trastevere over the river. The fortune-teller identifies Pasqua and Giuse. Held at an overcrowded boys’ prison, they are separated. Giuse falls under the influence of an older lad in his cell, Arcangeli. During interrogation, Pasqua is tricked into betraying Giuse’s brother to the police. With their trial still in the future, the two friends are driven further apart.

User review:

loved these unlikeable characters…..one of whom is a hustler and a thief, the other is a young confused liar and ingrate.

But I still came to like them.

The excellent acting by the two young protagonists is compelling and very believable. Rita and Nemoy take us on their journey of taking each day as it comes, of searching for the past and perhaps building for a future.

Storyline:

Henry James’ classic tale of terror, “The Turn of the Screw” receives yet another screen adaptation in this thriller shot in Spain. She is hired by their uncle, the Master (Harvey Keitel), who became the guardian of the youngsters after the death of their parents. While the governess is initially enthusiastic about her job, Miles and Flora soon prove to be quite a handful, and the housekeeper Mrs. Grose (Lauren Bacall), who oversees most of the activities at the Master’s estate, is openly antagonistic to her.
