User review:
i’m in love with pretty much everything about this special film. here’s a film that portrays the world of children, of all age, from toddlers to adolescents, and in such a thoughtful manner. the film is set in a small town, which involve a neighboring atmosphere, dedicated mostly to the students of a local school. the film is episodic and jumps from one child to the other, objectively focusing of each’s main problem and experience, an approach i grew very fond of as the film progressed: the misery of being poor, the lack of understanding from the elders, the agony of the first crush, the craving for knowledge and experience, the failures and isolation, the sad stuff and the fun stuff.. this film understands children. ‘children have grace’ as one mom said. the film doesn’t try to play up the children’s cuteness, it deals with the frustrations and the joyful moments, spontaneously.
all of this is great, but the coup de grâce, for me, is that it incites ours childhood memories, pains and joys. we see ourselves, children we knew in school or the neighborhood. and it is very intimate and magical in a lot of moments
