Storyline:
When an elderly priest died, the people in charge of his diocese discovered that it was a woman. Without anyone suspecting it, she had been practicing her vocation for years. Dismayed, the bishop decided to launch an investigation and asked the chancellor of the diocese to find out how, why and with what complicity such a deception was possible.
User review:
The parallel narrative of Thomas Rivière, son of Charlotte, played by Maxime Bergeron, who seeks to discover the identity of his father, adds an additional dimension to the intrigue. Charlotte’s refusal to reveal this information creates an interesting tension, highlighting the themes of truth and secrecy that permeate the film.
Magnificat is a film that keeps you in suspense from start to finish. Karin Viard delivers an exceptional performance as Charlotte, portraying a strong woman determined to discover the truth despite the obstacles. François Berléand, in the role of the bishop, brilliantly embodies a character who is loyal to the church and its principles.

A very boring movie! The boy is quite nice, but his screen time is not very long and I’m not interested in this French catholic stuff…
