User review:
“Paw” is a particularly child-friendly – and passable for adults – family film. Well, the story is packed with moral sermons and profound philosophical monologues, but all in all, the film contains so much charm and atmosphere that it constitutes fine entertainment.
Stranger in Danish idyll
When the orphan Paw arrives in the Danish idyll and after a hectic start finds peaceful rest with a nice lonely man, it is not without problems.
“Little black Sambo”
People are not much for “little black Sambo” in the middle of the Korch idyll. In any case, it takes an infinite amount of time for them to accept the strange boy. Lots of drama drags out the tension to the end – although not without all adult spectators having already seen through the action after fifteen minutes.
In close contact with the animals
The children’s audience will probably love the many well-filmed nature sequences, where Paw comes into close contact with baby hedgehogs, toads, foxes and owls. The best performer is undoubtedly Asbjørn Andersen, who raises the film several levels every time he is on screen.
