Leolo 1992
Leolo 1992
Léolo (original title)
1h 47min | Comedy, Drama | 16 September 1992 (France)
Storyline:
Young Leo Lauzon is torn between two worlds – the squalid Montreal tenement that he inhabits with his severely dysfunctional (and largely insane) family, and the imaginative world that he constructs for himself through his writings, where he’s Leolo Lozone, son of a Sicilian peasant (conceived in a bizarre act involving a tomato). And his experiences of growing up (especially his sexual development) affect his response to both these worlds…
User review:
I found this movie on a used VHS tape the other day and decided to check it out since it was a Canadian production.
Man, I can’t decide whether I love or hate this movie. It’s just plain weird! Sometimes it had me laughing (like in the beginning with the tomato, later when Leolo trades his flies for his sister’s turd, etc); And then sometimes I was totally grossed out (like the cat scene). And the raw meat incident was sick, then later hilarious when it got served for dinner. There’s definitely some “toilet” humour throughout this film.
Almost always I watch movies for enjoyment and I try not to analyse too much because it often spoils my enjoyment. But I’ve noticed some really deep analysis from previous reviewers regarding this film. And honestly, some of it is way too deep for me. (Maybe I’m the ignorant savage in the art museum.).
I wouldn’t really class this movie as a comedy although it has some humorous scenes (very dark humour). I’d say this movie was more like a trip through a mental institution. It is a very haunting movie and I did find myself reflecting on it every so often for a while. It’s a thinker for sure. It seemed sensitive, but in a very harsh way.
Acting was very good in my opinion. Any actor who can pull off roles like the ones in this movie has to be good.
Normally, I’m not fond of narration. But for some reason it didn’t seem to bother me in this film. It sort of fit in better I guess.
This movie could freak out a lot of people. It’s really worth watching, but not for young kids. I gave it 8 out of 10 because it was well acted, made me think on it, and it was certainly unique. Also I respect a person who goes against the flow to make something original.

One of the top ten Canadian movies ever made, in my opinion!
This was a movie I first saw ten or so years ago on the CBC — totally uncut. The CBC has no problem with pressing “PLAY” on the video — and then walking away. I was shocked and pleased that they did…even if it WAS playing at midnight.
This would never be played on US TV Networks…. especially nowadays with fake religious zealots trying to censor everything.
I know there are many Canadians who aren’t fans of the CBC — but I certainly am!
I notice these things also.
Thank God I living in Europe. Movies like “Il saprofita”, “el nudista” etc. (found this site) can watch on amazon prime in here 😀 or national television show something like that.
Goofy movie. It´s a bit reminiscent of the great The Butcher boy (1997) – a stupid family and the question of how to get out of it. With the difference that Leo is more sexually active.
Wonder where the nudity is in this?
I think that mean the HJ-scene where girl give HJ to two boys. Ofc that scene is not so much rear nudity but RN tag actually mean even little flash butcheek some point of movie…
In response to comments on Delantero. The Captcha didn’t work.
Eventually there may come a time when it is difficult to find more movies that we like. Including those movies that are of the innocent bareness type that were produced in earlier decades.
There must be thousands of films on this site?
So, ongoing thanks to BHM.
However, with decreasing uploads, it does make it difficult to justify the NitroFlare costs. Perhaps newcomers to the site may provide the income BHM needs.
Captcha doesn’t work long time now and that can be reason why discussion in this site is very slow nowdays. I can write with iOS safari but can’t write with macOS safari (and with keyboard ofc). Captcha blank entire writing and do nothing. And yes, another point is very good also. BHM collecting is very slow nowdays. New content is very rear and old content is slowly vanishing by different share places. I think, this content is going to vanish forever, so must be fast if you are collector. Ofc private collections is full of stuff. We manage collect movies at golden era.
Captcha is very frustrating on this site. Just doesn’t make sense as to why it is so flaky. Don’t have a problem on other sites. You are probably right about it slowing people’s commenting.
Sad really that sources of the type of movies we like to watch as you say will likely dry up as they become ‘incorrect’ to watch by the woke ones. I know only of this site and.
Perhaps if BHM started up boyhoodmovies.online again he might attract more people to this site to keep it going, though I understand the argument against.
