User review:

There are no big lifelines. This four-handed remake lacks some grandeur and cinematic vision even when its budget and good cast seemed to point otherwise. Too linear, too simple both in its narrative construction (the use of flashbacks is quite exhausting and the constant analeptics and prolepsis don’t help) and in the psychological orchestration of its characters, The Gate of Youth is a loose exercise that can hardly be balanced in its almost two and a half hours long.
