Thief or Reality 2001
Kleftis i I pragmatikotita (original title)
1h 23min | Drama | 11 January 2002 (Greece)
Angelidi’s highly theatrical, experimental and allegorical film is divided into three independently existing segments that intertwine because of the involvement of the Thief, the connecting link between the three reality perspectives. The three segments are The Net, The Dice and Free Will, each one representing a philosophical idea and a natural element, (Fate-Fire, Chance-Water, Free Will-Earth), respectively. A sculptress of funereal memorials has visions of the Last Judgment, a mother who lost her son attaches herself to remnants of memory and fantastical visions of encounters, and an actor prepares for Antigone, with fictional reality invading his existential realm. The film explores the different levels of reality that can be experienced: the metaphysical (Death, God and religion), the tangible (love and mother-son relationships), and the externalization of the soul through art (theater and fiction). The Thief stands for Time, as time is a thief and destroys everything.

Der grüne Heinrich (original title)
1h 50min | Drama | 12 January 1994 (France)
Kissing seems to be a popular activity in this Swiss epic costume drama based on an 1880 novel. The story begins in Munich with lots of people vigorously kissing in the midst of a bacchanalia carnival. Two men, Lys and Henry are even going at it. Henry, a sensitive artist, is wearing a green suit which symbolizes his jealousy and immaturity. He, angry at Lys for cheating on his fiancee, challenges Lys to a duel upon the morrow. What Henry is really angry at is his own failure to marry his true love. The movie jumps back to Switzerland during Henry’s childhood soon after he lost his father. He wants his mother’s love, but she remains strict and aloof. At school Henry is picked on and it is only when he finds the theater that he meets the beautiful actress Judith. He becomes enamored and forgets all about his love affair with cousin Anna. Time passes quickly and an older Henry returns home to find dear Anna. His attentions are again diverted when the ageless Judith again appears. He does not realize that beloved but unappreciated Anna is soon to die of tuberculosis. Tragedy ensues.
Mona picks up her first job tutoring two orphaned children living in a derelict house in the country. Her obsession with trying to educate these two nearly feral children blind her to the fact they have other plans for her.
At the end of the 1990s the Internet comes to Northern Norway and coincides with the sexual awakening of young Mads (12). The introduction of pornographic images into his life complicates his relationship with his parents, and their house becomes a minefield filled with uncomfortable interactions.
