Storyline:

Siggi Jepsen is in Germany after the war in an institution for difficult to educate young people. He is to write an essay on the subject “The pleasures of duty”, but has no idea. Only when he is locked in a cell the next day, the memories of his childhood during the Second World War break out of him: His father Jens Ole Jepsen, a police officer, was then commissioned to bring the friendly expressionist painter Ludwig Nansen a professional ban , At Nansen’s surveillance, Siggi was supposed to help him at the time, but eventually he rebelled against his father, sided with the recalcitrant Nansen and hid some of the forbidden pictures, eventually leading to his stay in the asylum.

Storyline:

Rather undiplomatic British diplomat Harrington Brande (Sir Michael Hordern) takes up his new post in Spain accompanied by his son Nicholas (Jon Whiteley). The posting is something of a disappointment to Harrington, who was hoping for a promotion. That his wife had left him seems to have affected his career. Nicholas sees it all as something of an adventure, and soon becomes fast friends with the new gardener, José (Sir Dirk Bogarde). The apparently “delicate” Nicholas becomes attached to José, and Harrington’s jealousy leads him to bar Nicholas from even speaking to José. As tensions mount, another servant frames José for theft, forcing everyone to review the situation.

Storyline:

In 1959, support from US troops based in Asia and later from the States enables two actresses to start a charity for mixed-race ‘orphans’ who are locally neglected as outcasts. Thus originates Childhelp, which later runs multi-disciplinary centers for abused or neglected children in the States. Among them is bright Jacob Fletcher, whose stepfather, a lawyer, terrorized him into utter trauma and reclaims him shortly after 10 months in jail. Jacob’s peers have distressing stories of their own, but competent, devoted staff helps most of them decisively on the former farm, using animal therapy.
