John and Nicholas are 15 years old and best friends. They are both very interested in girls but feel insecure when it comes to a first sexual encounter with a woman. That’s why they decide that they will get some ‘practice’ on each other…
Sensitive, somewhat effeminate farm-boy Duncan Mudge can barely cope with grim, since Ma’s death even gloomier father Edgar’s manly expectations, and seeks comfort in petting a chicken he associates with his late Ma. Macho mate Perry Foley, who has it physically even harder on his dad’s farm, usually comforts Duncan and defends his ‘wimpiness’ to their cocky ruffian mates Travis, Scotty and Brent. But although clearly attracted to gentle gentile Ducan himself, the socially unacceptable suggestion of ‘sissy’ homosexuality makes Perry over-react and turn on his friend.
In the small, closed community of a provincial town, Magda tries to maintain a balance within a family facing many serious problems. The families apparently normal, bourgeois, every-day life will crack open, bringing to the surface hatred and passions of the kind that lie well-hidden in the mists of the nearby lake. An intense plot and a totally unexpected ending make up this film, which features characters who are vulnerable, innocent and ordinary, but who become ruthless and callous, worrying only about protecting their financial resources. The offences are disproportionately serious compared to the financial benefits they try to secure.

Like Cattle Towards Glow follows 13 young characters who find themselves in confusing and threatening situations by way of their sexual misadventures. In advance of the film’s premiere in Paris this Friday, VICE spoke with Dennis about anarchism, the gay agenda, and giving his readers complicated erections.
The movie begins with an explicit murder scene. We later learn high school student Alice (Natacha Régnier) convinced her lover, Luc (Jérémie Renier), to murder their classmate Saïd (Salim Kechiouche), whom she claims raped her with a group of his friends. After the murder they take Luc’s parents’ car and go off to rob a jewelry store. When they dispose of the body in the woods, the couple get lost on their way back to their car and are captured by a mysterious forest dweller (Miki Manojlovic). Matters take an even more bizarre twist when the stranger locks the young lovers in his basement and reveals that he plans to eat them. The movie shows the events that led up to the murder of their classmate and the ordeals the two lovers undergo in the cabin. Alice is very sexually active, but Luc is still a virgin. Sometimes it feels like a bizarre twist of Grimm’s “Hansel and Gretel” in true François Ozon style.

A group of skateboarders in Paris are at the heart of a loose coalition of young people who do drugs and have sex. Several of them are rent boys, including the Dorian Gray/Narcissus of the group Math (Lukas Ionesco) and his friend JP (Hugo Behar-Thinieres) who is in love with him, but is continually rejected because Math reckons he’s only gay for pay. There’s a girl who sometimes comes over and is jealous of JP’s closeness to Math, and so she snitches on JP to his parents, and there’s an indigent old man nicknamed Rockstar (Larry Clark) whom the group tolerate as a kind of mascot/despised pet. And there’s Michael Pitt (who featured in Clark’s “Bully”) with a guitar in a couple of scenes looking slightly uncomfortable at being so clearly surplus to requirements.
