WTF was that? First the first time ever, I have come to see Nielsen’s work as abusive.
I loved You are not alone, the Kite and a number of others. Even his lame later stuff, trying so stridently and amateurishly to make a point (whilst providing low level wank fantasies for himself), but this short felt like it was deliberately created to get revenge on the boy in the final frame, much as Caravaggio’s Isaac and Abraham was low key threatening one of his models.
Showing the face of an unrelated boy, just after a boy has been killed with the word “Slut” flashed on the screen immediately afterwards, feels to me like it was sending a clear message to the boy. Truly unpleasant.

Totally agree with you. Honestly….I don’t like Lasse’s new stuff. Kite, and number of others was boring (for me) and amateur. The old stuff was really great.I am able to watch more times.

  2. Gman says:

Slut can also mean shut or finished in Scandanavian languages. Does it make sense in that context? I haven’t seen the film.

  3. SCP says:

    “Slut” means “Finished” in Danish.
Is this an English film? If not, there’s no problem at all.

  4. Dario says:

Oh thank goodness. That totally changes things! What a relief. I always thought Lasse was fond of his actors.

  5. Dario says:

I’m VERY grateful that you have found and uploaded so many of Lasse’s movies though. Yeah, back in the day, he was fearless and he saw things through the eye of a boy. His recent stuff has been through the eye of an old man perving over boys.

You are not alone was his most graphic, but it still felt natural and real. Same with Maske ku vi and Leave us alone. Then he started making movies to talk about issues, rather than simply telling beautiful stories. The story of Net was okay, but after that they all feel like bad SJW university film student movies.
